THINKING GREEN THINK TANK: The Thinking Green Think Tank, a group organized to assist the EPC in compiling recommendations to enable Atherton to reduce its town-wide carbon emissions, launched with its first meeting on September 3rd, 2008. We are still accepting new members through the end of October, 2008. Please click this "Thinking Green" link and read more about what we are doing and consider joining this effort. (Time commitment: approximately 20 hours total through spring, 2009.)
GREENSTART CHALLENGE: The EPC's collaborative community competition launched in the spring of 2008 and awarded nearly $5,000 to local student greens teams from Atherton's ten schools and several from surrounding towns. This program is being expanded and will run again during the 2008-2009 school year, with students challenged to reduce their home carbon footprints, in collaboration with their parents. Residents will be provided with information about home efficiency and special sponsored promotions to help them save money while they take home efficiency measures. For more information about the 2009 GreenSTART program, please click on the highlighted link. CONSERVATION KITS: We are creating conservation kits that homeowners will be able to borrow to learn more about effective means of conservation, new technologies and tools that can help you and money-saving programs and services. If you are interested in getting on the list to receive a kit, please send an email to info@athertongreen.net. |
