2008 NEW PROGRAMS

Thinking Green LogoTHINKING GREEN THINK TANK: The Thinking Green Think Tank, a group organized to assist the EPC in compiling recommendations to enable Atherton to reduce its town-wide carbon emissions, launched with its first meeting on September 3rd, 2008. We are still accepting new members through the end of October, 2008. Please click this "Thinking Green" link and read more about what we are doing and consider joining this effort. (Time commitment: approximately 20 hours total through spring, 2009.)

GreenSTART award to Menlo Atherton teamGREENSTART CHALLENGE: The EPC's collaborative community competition launched in the spring of 2008 and awarded nearly $5,000 to local student greens teams from Atherton's ten schools and several from surrounding towns. This program is being expanded and will run again during the 2008-2009 school year, with students challenged to reduce their home carbon footprints, in collaboration with their parents. Residents will be provided with information about home efficiency and special sponsored promotions to help them save money while they take home efficiency measures. For more information about the 2009 GreenSTART program, please click on the highlighted link. (Caption: Representatives of Menlo-Atherton High School's Environmental Committee are presented with their GreenSTART Award, along with a certificate of achievement from State Assemblymember Ira Ruskin and a check for a total of $2,800!)

CONSERVATION KITS: We are creating conservation kits that homeowners will be able to borrow to learn more about effective means of conservation, new technologies and tools that can help you and money-saving programs and services. If you are interested in getting on the list to receive a kit, please send an email to info@athertongreen.net.

COMMUNICATION

ATHERTONGREEN: The EPC's Environmental Information Exchange is an email list for anyone in Atherton and the surrounding towns (Palo Alto to San Carlos) interested in participating in the environmental conversation. Join this group and get environmental news, notices, announcement and hear expert information, dialogue about issues and get referrals and advice regarding environmental matters of concern to our community. The EPC sends out notice about its programs and events through this list before it is distributed through other means.

SPONSORSHIPS
HAVE A GREEN PRODUCT OR SERVICE?: The EPC accepts sponsorships from reputable business and non-profit groups in support of its programs. We do not have a marketing group or the ability to reach out to all good prospects for sponsorships. If you think you have something we should know about and would like to get more exposure to our community, please click on our Sponsors page above to learn more.
