GreenSTART Prizes  

GreenSTART Prizes are made possible by your contributions to the GreenSTART FUND. Please consider helping us to "close the loop" in reducing our collective carbon footprint. We hope to see these prize levels increase and even additional prizes get added to this list (see the red highlights below for our most recent increases!). To see our Sponsors and for more information about the the fund, please click here. All students who participate in GreenSTART are eligible to win a cash prize. Student Prize winners will be announced at the GreenSTART Fair!

NEW PRIZE for all participants*!: All pre-registered students and residents will receive a free copy of the 2008 GreenZebra Savings Guide, a $25 value that provides more than $10,000 in green savings! If you have registered, you will be able to pick up your copy at the GreenSTART Fair! (*Maximum of three free GreenZebra Savings Guides per registered project!)

   

PRIZES AND FUNDING: Atherton's Environmental Programs Committee (a volunteer committee) is covering the costs of administering the GreenSTART program. That means that all GreenSTART Donations and Sponsorship funds will go toward: 1) Prize money and 2) Funding local GreenSTART Projects. This amount will be distributed as delineated below:

STUDENT GRAND PRIZE
 

BEST OVERALL PROJECT: There will be one grand-prize winner for the best overall project based upon the judging criteria and participant voting.

2nd PLACE OVERALL PROJECT WINNER (New!): There will be one 2nd Place-prize winner for the best overall project based upon the judging criteria and participant voting. (Additional place winners will be added as funding provides!)

SOLAR PROJECT SPECIAL WINNER (New SPONSORSHIP!): This special prize, newly sponsored by Cobalt Power will go to the best project developed to bring solar power to a school or school district. Limited to high school or college students. Assistance from Cobalt is available. Contact the EPC for more information about this special prize!

STUDENT FAIR PRESENTATION PRIZES
 

BEST PROJECT PRESENTATION K-College: (New SPONSORSHIP!) Thanks to Harrell Remodeling for helping to support up to 15 winners of this prize for presentations shown at the GreenSTART Fair (one for each grade participating from Kindergarten through 12th grade and two for college level).

SCHOOL PARTICIPATION GRAND PRIZE
 

SCHOOL WITH MOST REGISTERED PROJECTS: We thank Allied Waste for helping to support this prize! One Atherton school will be awarded the grand-prize for environmental education and inspiration for having the most student projects registered and qualifying at the GreenSTART Fair!
