Custom Implementation

TIA applies an individually designed filter to the traditional quantitative approach, eliminating the bias of stock picking and attaining true individualized diversification

Each Client is Unique

Portfolio design and portfolio implementation dovetail at Tiemann Investment Advisors. TIA has created a proprietary, quantitative discipline for building custom portfolios that conform to the specifications of each individual portfolio design. Like an architectural blueprint, TIA sets forth its detailed portfolio specifications in terms designed to facilitate this efficient, quantitative implementation. This process allows us to deliver a high degree of individualization and customization in a surprisingly cost-effective way. The expertise embedded in each plan allows the building process to be smooth and efficient, eliminating layers of management and layers of fees. It also facilitates personalization, accommodating preferences regarding individual securities, sectors or investment philosophies. When any aspect of your investment world changes, just talk with us and we adjust your portfolio accordingly. A TIA portfolio strives, at all times, to provide you with the prescribed structure, while constantly remaining mindful of transactional costs and taxes. That is, we do things the smart way.

Few managers integrate tax impact planning and portfolio management so completely as TIA. Tax management begins with the portfolio plan, and continues as an everyday part of portfolio management. TIA views your entire portfolio as a single entity, spanning your regular accounts, trusts, IRA rollovers, and other accounts. TIA locates different types of assets in different accounts according to their tax characteristics. We position portfolios to utilize the tax advantages that qualified dividends and many bonds enjoy. And we seek to create an advantageous mix of capital losses and gains. TIA’s tax tactics are designed to complement the tax strategy that you and your tax advisors have created.

Tax Optimization is imbeded in TIA's service

Tax considerations also come into play when TIA restructures a portfolio. The implementation plan includes a careful examination of your existing portfolio, including its unrealized gains and losses. We may sell a position that has unrealized losses and retain one with unrealized gains to minimize taxes while at the same time establishing the optimal portfolio. Unlike with many larger, more well-known traditional investment managers, you and your portfolio are not force fit into the highly-touted "ideal" portfolio that their remote expert has designed for the ideal client. TIA’s structured, quantitative approach to portfolio management creates far more flexibility and applies far more expertise to these individual choices than does a typical traditional program of separately managed accounts.

We know investment management, we know your portfolio and we know you.  This is the TIA difference.
