About Tiemann Investment Advisors, LLC
Dr. Tiemann launched Tiemann Investment Advisors, LLC in Palo Alto in 2002 to serve the specific, individual needs of discerning high net worth investors. After serving on the institutional money management side for over a decadeÑmanaging huge pension funds and private endowmentsÑDr. Tiemann was drawn into the world of private investment management when he witnessed first hand the dubious services being pitched by brokers and salespeople essentially masquerading as investment advisors. He felt that high net worth individuals deserved to have the best investment expertise availableÑyet what he saw was that they got all sales and almost no "expertise." He decided this should change.
With a highly quantitative orientation and years of institutional money management experience, Dr. Tiemann first began to explore the specific issues associated with money management for individuals in 1999 and found that the issues of managing investments for individuals posed more complex problems than those associated with managing investments for institutions, even though the dollar amounts for institutions are substantially higher. Even the lower dollar amounts posed their own set of constraints and issues that required being accounted for in a diversified portfolio structure.
Dr. Tiemann began directly managing individual investments in 2001. He incorporated Tiemann Investment Advisors, LLC in 2002 and began operating out of a small office on University Avenue in Palo Alto, California. In 2004, TIA moved to larger offices in Menlo Park but maintains its strategic choice to concentrate on providing its expertise-centric services to a discerning few. TIA has no commissioned sales reps or other client service intermediaries. All TIA clients deal directly with Dr. Tiemann, get his expertise applied directly to their personal accounts. When TIA clients have a question, they pick up the phone or stop by the office and talk to Dr. Tiemann directly. TIA does not represent any financial "products" nor does the firm provide investment banking services to any corporations. TIA directly serves the investment needs of select individuals and families throughout the U.S.
